3 Steps to Great CoachingIn this article the authors promote the Identify, Learn, and Improve model of instructional coaching. Coaches work with teachers to record a lesson, learn about the reality in the classroom and set a goal for student improvement. This model stresses the effectiveness of recording teaching to set goals and make observations of student attitude, behavior and/or achievement. When focusing only on student work instructors may miss an opportunity for improvement that can be easily observed through video.

7 Steps to setting up an effective coaching programIn order to work effectively with teachers, coaches must see them as equals and set up a partnership with the teacher. Coaches should also see the process as a reciprocal learning opportunity.
